WoonHyoung Lee received her undergraduate degree in violin performance at Ewha Womans University where she was concertmaster of the school orchestra and graduated with highest honors. After coming to the United States, she received her Master’s Degree from the New England Conservatory and received the DMA in violin performance at the Thornton School of Music, University of Southern California, minoring Baroque violin and Instrumental conducting. She studied violin with Alice Schoenfeld, Suli Xue, Eric Rosenblith, Taek-ju Lee, Kwang-goon Kim, Jong-sook Lee and Baroque violin with Elisabeth Blumenstock.
An accomplished performer, she has given solo, chamber, and conducting recitals in Korea and the United States. She performed as a soloist and a chamber player at Euro Musikfestival Winterkurse and International Musical Institute of Fryburg. She regularly performs as a member of MUIN trio, Ensemble Space, and Seoul Quartet.
She held the position of principal Violin of Ewha chamber Orchestra. She has been a guest Concertmaster of Ewha Philharmonic Orchestra and guest principal violin of Yong-in Philharmonic orchestra. As a principal Violin of the Baroque orchestra of Bach Solisten Seoul, she played with Masaaki Suzuki, Ryo Terakado, Sigiswald Kuijken, and Frieder Bernius. Woonhyoung Lee is currently a lecturer of violin performance at the Ewha Womans University.
